Mae pob ACA, ynghyd ag Ardaloedd Gwarchodaeth Arbennig (AGA neu SPAs) a ddynodwyd o dan Gyfarwyddeb Adar Gwyllt y CE er mwyn diogelu rhywogaethau adar prin a mudol, yn cynnwys rhwydwaith o safleoedd, sef y Rhwydwaith Safleoedd Cenedlaethol, sy'n cynrychioli'r gorau o natur Cymru. Mae'r rhan fwyaf o’r safleoedd ACA ar y tir yng Nghymru hefyd wedi'u dynodi’n Safleoedd o Ddiddordeb Gwyddonol Arbennig. Mae'r haen hon hefyd yn cynnwys ardaloedd bach o goetir sy’n Ardaloedd Cadwraeth Arbennig (ACA) ond nad ydynt wedi’u dynodi’n SoDdGA.
